Changelog
Welcome to MV 2.0!
It's been almost 5 years since the last release by Naxess, and with the project now handed over to me (Greaper), this update brings a refreshed foundation for the future.
A big thank you to Hivie, Nostril, -kevincela-, and RandomeLoL for their help to make this release possible.
Built from the ground up
The entire application's frontend has been rewritten from the ground up, which allowed us to easily add new features and gain significant performance improvements!
Long gone are the days of extreme lag when searching for beatmaps or when browsing a map with many difficulties.
Checks now match the latest Ranking Criteria
All checks have been updated to match the current Ranking Criteria, which means that the issues reported by MV will now be more accurate and helpful, with significantly less false positives.
More checks
All mode-specific checks are now built directly into MV.
This includes:
- Taiko checks by Hivie
- Catch checks by Greaper
- Mania checks by RandomeLoL
You no longer need to install separate plugins for these modes.
Updated star rating system
Star rating calculations now match osu! lazer directly.
This means:
- Star rating for osu! is now up to date
- Added support for osu!taiko, osu!catch, and osu!mania SR, which means difficulty interpretation will work correctly for these modes
- Maintenance and future updates will be easier to merge
Automatic beatmap detection
Mapset Verifier can now automatically detect the beatmap you currently have open in osu! stable.
You'll see it displayed in the top-left when selecting a beatmapset:

Lazer support is also available and can be enabled in the settings. (This feature is still experimental for now.)
Expanded Overview section
We have overhauled the Overview section to provide a lot more information about beatmaps:
- Metadata
- Includes detailed information about the map's metadata
- Objects
- Detailed analysis of the map's objects
- Beatmap
- Containes general beatmap info
- Difficulty
- Contains charts related to difficulty, SR, and SVs
- Audio
- Detailed analysis of the map's audio file
Objects
This section contains detailed information about all snap usage across all difficulties, and the good old timeline comparison section, refreshed to current standards!

Difficulty
This section contains graphs and charts related to difficulty, SR, and Slider Velocity values, now available for all modes!
You can also zoom into any specific part of the chart to see more detailed information.
Audio
You can now view detailed audio information directly inside MV — no external tools needed.
This includes:
- Audio format details (codec, sample rate, bitrate, etc.)
- A visual spectrogram to help spot unusual encoding or quality issues

Experimental osu! lazer support
If enabled in settings, Mapset Verifier can now detect the current beatmap you have open in osu! lazer. You'll need to open it externally from the osu! editor first.
